Methodology

The real yield curve is derived from Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS). A real yield is the return in excess of realised inflation, because a TIPS principal is indexed to the CPI. The gap between the nominal par yield and the real yield of the same maturity is the market-implied breakeven inflation rate.
