Methodology

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, seasonally adjusted, 1982-84 = 100. It measures the average change over time in the prices urban consumers pay for a fixed basket of goods and services, and it is the reference rate for Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities.
